VIDEO: Sir Nigel Hawthorne Remembered

Happy Valentine’s Day week everyone!  In keeping with the theme of this week (love of others, love of our craft), here is a intriguing documentary about one of our favourite actors: Sir Nigel Hawthorne Remembered.

We wanted to share this documentary from BBC’s Omnibus series about highly respected British actor, Sir Nigel Hawthorne, best known to audiences for his portrayal of “Sir Humphrey Appleby” in Yes, Minister & Yes, Prime Minister and his Oscar® Nominated performance as “King George III” in the acclaimed film The Madness of King George, for a couple of reasons.  Nigel has special significance to ActorSpeak.com founder, Sally McLean, as he was her Honorary Patron in the early days of her production company, before his passing in 2001.  This documentary was shot in 1999 while Nigel was preparing for his most demanding stage performance – that of the title role in the RSC’s Anglo/Japanese production of King Lear – at age 70.  Inspiring for all actors, this is a must-see for those who feel the clock is ticking on their career in regards to success – with some fascinating insights into the acting business, the balance between private and professional life and acting itself.

Parts 2 & 3 to come in the next couple of days.
