ActorSpeak.com is the brainchild of Melbourne actor, Sally McLean.
She wanted to create an online space where actors could come to gain some inspiration, have a bit of a laugh and share their thoughts and feelings about their craft, business and industry. She also wanted to create a resource for actors to use on the web that was fun, free, useful and informative. Hence ActorSpeak.com came to be – and is still evolving – just like any good actor.

WHAT’S WITH THE SLOGAN?
Fellow actor and ActorSpeak.com contributor, Billy Smedley, came up with the original slogan “Where actors speak louder than words”, which we loved, as the true test of how good an actor actually is at their job comes when they have nothing to say! And we liked the play on words. But, we decided to go for the more simple “Share the inspiration” as that sums up what this site is truly about – sharing the inspiration that keeps all of us turning up to audition, perform and keep pursuing the dream of telling those stories on a stage or screen in communion with an audience seated in the dark.
NOT MUCH IS STILL FREE, SO WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS SITE?
Not only an actor, Sally is also a graphic designer and runs several online stores, including Incognita Shop – featuring t-shirts, mugs, mousepads, bags, hoodies and more for actors, writers, directors, producers and all those working in the entertainment biz, and The Shakespeare Shoppe, where you’ll find gifts and gear celebrating Shakespeare and the Elizabethan era of Theatre. ActorSpeak.com is kept online and free via monies raised through these online shopping experiences as well as displaying advertising for other related services and items – all hand-picked by Sally for visitors to explore.

WHERE’D YOU GET THE VIDEOS?
There are some very generous souls who have been uploading their content onto YouTube and so all we have done is linked all these actor, director and writer on-screen interviews here to form the one collection – post by post.
